Travis M. Jones
Travis M. Jones, 35, of Newark, Delaware, died on February 3, 2021, while in the custody of the Delaware Department of Correction at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in Smyrna. The department said that on the night of February 1 he was unresponsive in his housing unit alongside another man, and it attributed his death to an apparent drug overdose. Emergency medical services took him to Bayhealth Hospital in Dover, where he was pronounced dead. Officials have not said how drugs reached the prison, and the department said it is investigating.
