Tom Horn
Tom Horn wrote letters and a memoir while held at the Laramie County Jail in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and his friends the Irwin brothers sang to him before he died. His lifelong friend John C. Coble published his letters and defended him. Horn was hanged at the jail on November 20, 1903, and newspaper accounts of the time describe him as calm to the end. His friends disputed the accounts given of the case, and a 2024 Sheridan Media report says whether he was guilty remains unknown.
Cause of death, as reported: Executed by the state. Friends who wrote about the case disputed the accounts given of it.
Reported by: Wyoming Tribune (reporters); Cheyenne Daily Leader (reporters).
