Tom Delk
Tom Delk was hanged at Zebulon, Georgia, on June 18, 1897, in a judicial execution carried out after he was taken from the jail to the gallows. Before he died he spoke briefly, said he wished to meet everyone present in heaven, and prayed for his mother, his sisters and his father. Reports say several thousand people gathered around the enclosure, and that he said with his last breath that he was innocent. The accounts agree on the time and place of the execution but differ on how the crowd and the final moments were described.
