Died in prison
Toby Viles
Toby Viles, 28, died in October 2003 at the former Missouri State Penitentiary in downtown Jefferson City. Cole County Prosecuting Attorney Mark Richardson said another person held at the prison killed Viles. Guards launched a four-day search for the suspected attacker and a second person, who were later found hiding inside the prison walls. According to a KRCG report published in September 2009, the case was resolved in court that month.
Cause of death, as reported: Killed by another person in custody. Cole County Prosecuting Attorney Mark Richardson says another inmate killed him.
