Tina Marie Elrite
Tina Marie Elrite, 53, was found unresponsive in her cell at the Shasta County Jail in Redding during a routine welfare check at about 4:30 a.m. on January 6, 2026, according to the Shasta County Sheriff's Office. She was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead about an hour later. The sheriff's office said she had been awaiting release when she was found. The Major Crimes Unit is investigating, and the coroner has not yet determined the cause of death; officials said there were no signs of foul play at the time.
