Timothy McQuesten
Timothy McQuesten, 49, died in 2022 in his cell at the Adult Correctional Institutions in Rhode Island. Staff had placed him on crisis management status and in a monitoring cell after judging him to be at risk of harming himself. An investigation said he died by choking himself with a face mask, and it found that a former correctional officer was criminally negligent in carrying out their duty; the officer pleaded no contest to involuntary manslaughter in April 2025. The officer's role in the death is described as still unclear, and McQuesten told a court he had not received his antipsychotic medication since his arrest.
