Timothy Louis McGhee Jr.
Timothy Louis McGhee Jr., 48, died on July 27, 2020, while in the custody of the Iowa Department of Corrections. He was held at Fort Dodge Correctional Facility in Webster County, where a COVID-19 outbreak was underway, and he contracted the virus there. He was taken to a hospital in Iowa City and later moved to the Iowa Medical & Classification Center in Oakdale, which was closer to the hospital, and he died at the University of Iowa Hospital. The Department of Corrections said he had multiple preexisting conditions and attributed his death to complications related to COVID-19.
