Died in prison
Tim Cole
Tim Cole died in 1999 while held at a Texas prison, and the cause of death was given as an asthma attack. Years later, DNA evidence showed that he had not done what he was held for. In 2010 Governor Rick Perry issued a posthumous pardon to clear his name. His mother was central to the effort to clear his name, and Perry said he hoped the pardon would bring his family a measure of peace.
