Thomas M. Myers

died June 2, 1904 · Idaho County, Idaho

Thomas Meyers was held in the custody of Deputy Sheriff Seay and being moved by road from White Bird, Idaho, toward the county jail on June 2, 1904. The Idaho County Free Press reported that rumors of a lynching had circulated the night before and armed men paraded the town, and that a mob seized him from the deputy on the road and hanged him. Several papers said a masked, armed group overtook the officers, took him from their custody and hanged him from a tree, with accounts differing on whether he was also shot. No arrests were made, and county editors called the killing a disgrace and blamed public indifference to enforcing the law.
