Thomas Jefferson

Thomas Jefferson, a Black man, was hanged by judicial order at Memphis, Tennessee, on July 13, 1889. The Hope Pioneer reported the execution in its issue of July 19, 1889. As a judicial execution, his death took place in state custody.
