Theresa Zar
Theresa Zar was 25 when she died in her cell at the Slidell City jail in November 2023. According to the district attorney's office, a correctional officer found her on the morning of November 22, and an autopsy found she died of a fentanyl overdose. The Slidell Police Department said she likely died of a narcotics overdose, and that another woman held at the jail supplied the drugs and did not seek help when she saw Zar in distress. Detectives say jail video and a cellmate's admission show that the drugs were concealed during booking and shared with Zar, and that the cellmate has been arrested in connection with the death.
