Thaddeus Scales was held at South Mississippi Correctional Institution in Greene County, Mississippi. According to the Mississippi Department of Corrections, Scales died on October 17, 2020, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. The department said the cause of death was pending an autopsy, and no cause had been determined when WLBT reported the death on October 23, 2020.
