Ta’varis Jones died in January 2024 while held at the Montford Unit, a Texas prison in Lubbock; the Texas Attorney General’s custodial death report gives January 5, 2024 as the date of death. According to KCBD, his cellmate, San Diego Delgado, admitted in court on June 9, 2026, that he strangled Jones inside their cell. The Attorney General’s report lists the manner of death as homicide.
