Tasha Idella Brown, 53, was held at the DeSoto County Jail in Florida. On Friday, July 31, 2026, the sheriff's office said she was taken to DeSoto Memorial Hospital for an illness and died there the same day. The sheriff's office said it is working with the Medical Examiner's Office, and detectives are investigating under its protocols for in-custody deaths. No cause of death has been released.
