Executed
Tait Hall
Tait Hall was hanged on September 2, 1892, in a judicial execution, with the sheriff cutting the trap rope with a hatchet, according to a Richmond Dispatch correspondent who watched it before a crowd. The correspondent reported that Hall walked up the scaffold steps with a steady step. Before the drop, he spoke to his sister, telling her he held nothing against anyone and that it was hard to die, but that he was willing to go. The account was published on September 14, 1892, and reports no objection to the execution.
