Symone Marshall
Symone Marshall, a 22-year-old woman who had recently moved to Texas for a fresh start, died on May 10, 2016, while held at the Walker County Jail in Walker County, Texas. Her sister, Honey Marshall, described her as her only family, saying "All we had was each other." Sheriff Clint McRae said Marshall began convulsing after lying down on a bunk and died at a hospital, and that a preliminary autopsy pointed to a possible heart condition, with full results pending. Her family says she complained of head pain and repeated blackouts and that her sister urged jail officials several times to take her to a hospital, while the sheriff said she made no such requests and his office is reviewing her communications. Texas Rangers are investigating at the sheriff's office's request.
Cause of death, as reported: Cause not yet determined (disputed; neglect alleged). Sheriff Clint McRae's office says she began convulsing and a preliminary autopsy suggests a possible heart condition, while her sister says she complained of head pain and asked staff to take her to a hospital, which the sheriff disputes.
Reported by: Walker County Sheriff's Office (the agency that held her). The only account of how this person died comes from the agency that held her.
