Streeter
Streeter was held in the Medina jail and was hanged on a gallows about half a mile northeast of town on February 22, 1864. As he went to the gallows he spoke with the father of Mrs. Coy and took his hand, and his mother later claimed his body. A crowd tore down a fence that had been put up to make the execution private, so it became a public event. Sheriff Jesse Seeley carried out the hanging, and the account reports that life was not pronounced extinct for ten or more minutes.
Cause of death, as reported: Executed by the state. The newspaper account says life was not pronounced extinct for ten or more minutes after the hanging, which it describes as a prolonged execution.
