Steven Mitchell Qualls
Steven Mitchell Qualls, 28, died on January 30, 2019, while held at the Jasper City Jail in Jasper, Texas. Lieutenant Garrett Foster of the Jasper Police Department said he was found unresponsive in a detox cell, and emergency medical technicians found no vital signs before a justice of the peace pronounced him dead. He had been discharged from Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital two days earlier. The cause of death was not yet known, an autopsy was ordered, and the Texas Rangers were investigating.
