Steven Dorell Lard, 46, died in the custody of the Iowa Department of Corrections on July 14, 2025. The department said he was pronounced dead at 1:47 a.m. at University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City. The department's release gave no cause or manner of death.
