Steve Henley
Steve Henley was put to death by lethal injection at Riverbend Maximum Security Institution in Tennessee in the early hours of February 4, 2009, after his appeals were exhausted. He maintained his innocence until the end. His daughter Leanne, son Gregory, sister Stephanie Worley and a son-in-law watched from the viewing room, and his spiritual adviser of ten years led the family in the Lord's Prayer while he talked with them until the drugs took effect. Warden Ricky Bell pronounced him dead at 1:33 a.m. Central time, and his family said he died with a smile on his face, while his son read a statement forgiving the state.
Cause of death, as reported: Executed by the state. He maintained until the end that he was not guilty of the 1985 killings of Fred and Edna Stafford.
Reported by: Tennessee Department of Correction (the agency that held him); Warden Ricky Bell (the agency that held him). The only account of how this person died comes from the agency that held him.
