Died in prison
Stephen Wayne Newell
Stephen Wayne Newell, 47, died on December 24, 2025, in the infirmary of Snake River Correctional Institution in Ontario, Oregon, where he was receiving hospice care. The Oregon Department of Corrections reported the death, said the Oregon State Police were notified as with all in-custody deaths, and said the State Medical Examiner will determine the cause. The department said next of kin has been notified. The cause and manner of death have not yet been determined.
