Stephen Gurule
Stephen Gurule, 33, died on April 18, 2025, while held at the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Detention Center in New Mexico. The Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office said detention staff found him unresponsive on a Friday morning and that he was pronounced dead around 8:41 a.m. The sheriff's office and the facility's Office of Professional Standards are investigating, and the state Office of the Medical Investigator is reviewing the cause and manner of death.
