Stephanie Osowski
Stephanie Osowski, 40, of Millsboro, Delaware, was a mother of three whom her sister Jennifer Blake described as carefree, someone who loved waitressing, and a person with a strong spirit. She was found dead in her cell at the Lenoir County jail in Kinston, North Carolina, on the morning of Saturday, January 20, 2024. The State Bureau of Investigation said preliminary autopsy results were consistent with an overdose, and a later autopsy found she died of fentanyl toxicity. Deputies said another person held at the jail, Kristen Graham, was charged after allegedly bringing drugs in inside a body cavity, and Osowski's family is asking how drugs got into the facility and says the jail needs a full body scanner.
Cause of death, as reported: Died of an overdose. The SBI says preliminary autopsy results are consistent with an overdose, and the autopsy found fentanyl toxicity, which deputies say was brought into the jail by another person held there.
Reported by: State Bureau of Investigation (outside investigators); autopsy; Lenoir County Sheriff's Office (the agency that held her).
