Stephanie N. Dawson, 36, was from Montevallo, Alabama. She was taken to the Shelby County Jail on April 4, 2020, and was later admitted to Shelby Baptist Medical Center because of medical conditions she already had. She died there on the afternoon of Thursday, May 21, 2020. Deputies said they did not believe COVID-19 was involved, and an autopsy and an internal review were planned.
