Stacey Garrett, 39, died in 2018 at a hospital after being held at the Pottawatomie County Public Safety Center in Shawnee, Oklahoma. According to a state medical examiner's autopsy report, she died of a rare stroke, and the report listed substance use as a contributing factor and could not determine whether the death was natural, accidental or intentional. Oklahoma Watch and Prison Legal News report that the jail did not report her death to state regulators, so no safety inspection followed.
