Sonny Jefferson
Sonny Jefferson, a 22-year-old Black man, was held in the Metcalf jail in Metcalf, Georgia, near Thomasville. According to a Thomasville dispatch reported by The San Francisco Call, shortly after midnight a group of unknown people took him from the jail to the edge of the village, hanged him from a tree and shot him many times. The dispatch attributes the killing to unknown parties.
