Executed
Simpson Bush
Simpson Bush worked on farms and had married Annie Rogers in 1889; the couple had a baby boy in February 1890, and a newspaper described his father as a prosperous farmer. Kentucky executed him by hanging on a scaffold about 400 yards from the jail, before a crowd the paper put at about 2,500. Shortly before the execution he gave conflicting accounts of events surrounding his wife's death, and the paper reported that he later said another man was responsible, a claim the article presents as disputed.
