Shonna Powell
Shonna Powell, 32, died on December 22, 2022, at the Charles B. Webster Detention Center in Augusta, Georgia, where she was being held. Sheriff's deputies found her in her cell, and the sheriff's office said she had hanged herself. The Richmond County Coroner pronounced her dead, and the coroner and authorities have said the death was a suicide. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating, and the sheriff's internal affairs division is conducting a separate review.
