Shon Collins
Shon Collins was held at Tecumseh State Correctional Institution in Nebraska and was found dead in his cell after a prisoner uprising there on May 10, 2015. Johnson County officials said he died of blunt force trauma to the head, and the manner of death was recorded as homicide. In April 2016 a Johnson County grand jury found there was not enough evidence to bring charges, and the county attorney said the investigation was continuing. A 2023 report on the riot says two people held at the prison were killed that day, without naming them.
Cause of death, as reported: Killed by another person in custody. A Johnson County grand jury found not enough evidence to charge anyone, and County Attorney Rick Smith said the investigation continues.
