Sherman Silva
Sherman Silva, 43, died early on Sunday, March 7, 2021, while held in a sobering cell in the booking area of the Butte County Jail in Oroville. Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey said investigators believe Sherman had a physical altercation with another person held in the same cell, and that a deputy found him after the struggle. The Sacramento County Coroner's Office had not determined a cause of death, pending toxicology results. The other man in the cell was released while the investigation continues, and the district attorney said a self-defense claim and a lack of evidence delayed any filing.
