Shelbi Ervin, 25, died on November 2, 2024, while held at the Jefferson County Correctional Facility. The Orange Leader reported that deputies found her in her bunk around 7:15 a.m. A court document says she died from ingesting and inhaling fentanyl. The same document says drugs were allegedly brought into the jail by another person held there.
