Sheena Weatherspoon
Sheena Chiquita Weatherspoon, a 39-year-old Black woman, died on May 11, 2024, while held at the Correctional Treatment Facility in Washington, D.C., in the custody of the D.C. Department of Corrections. The D.C. Office of the Chief Medical Examiner attributed the death to complications of cocaine, fentanyl, and methamphetamine use and ruled the manner accident. A Washington City Paper report said she was found unresponsive in her cell and had been housed in a medical unit at the facility. The report said her family had not been reached, and the Department of Corrections and the Metropolitan Police Department are investigating the death.
