Shawn Bauer
Shawn Bauer, 46, of Durand, died on October 16, 2025, at Stanley Correctional Institution, a state prison in Chippewa County, Wisconsin, about two weeks after being transferred there. The Department of Corrections said local law enforcement and the county coroner were called in, as they are for all deaths at its facilities. Coroner Ron Patten said an autopsy was performed but its results were not yet back, and the death remains under investigation. The sheriff said that, based on what he had heard so far, he did not believe the death was suspicious.
