Shane Simms, 24, was stabbed at North Branch Correctional Institution in Allegany County, Maryland, on the morning of Wednesday, September 28, 2016. He was taken to Western Maryland Regional Medical Center in Cumberland, where he died about 12 hours later. Maryland State Police are investigating his death as a homicide, and according to the report, a suspect had been identified but not charged and prison knives had been recovered as evidence.
