Shane Murphy
Shane Murphy, 36, was from Cleone in Mendocino County. On October 8, 2014, he was found unconscious on the floor of his cell at the Mendocino County Adult Detention Facility in Ukiah, and he was pronounced dead. The Mendocino County Sheriff's Office said he hanged himself with a mesh laundry bag wrapped around his neck, and autopsy results released later were reported to confirm suicide. Other people held in the facility tried life-saving measures and alerted staff before correctional staff took over.
