Shane Hotmer
Shane Hotmer, 40, was from Suffolk County. He was found beaten and unconscious in the recreation yard of Auburn Correctional Facility on the night of Saturday, September 6, 2003, and was later pronounced dead. Dr. Mary Jumbelic of the Onondaga County Medical Examiner's office ruled his death a homicide, citing blunt force trauma to the head and neck. State Police, prison officials and the Cayuga County District Attorney's office are investigating how the injuries happened.
