Died in jail or a lockup
Shamari Breyonci McIntosh
Shamari McIntosh, 26, of Okolona, died on June 3, 2026 while held at the Lee County jail in Mississippi. Sheriff Jim Johnson said jailers found her unresponsive on the floor of her cell, that staff gave medical aid and she was taken by ambulance to North Mississippi Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, and that investigators found no signs of trauma or assault. The sheriff said it appeared to be a medical emergency. An autopsy is pending, and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is investigating.
