Seth Danner
Seth Danner was hanged inside the old Gallatin County jail in Montana on July 18, 1924, and was buried in an unmarked grave. His guilt has long been disputed. Author and museum curator Kelly Hartman has written his side of the story, saying, "I really feel in my heart he was innocent," while acknowledging that she cannot prove or disprove his guilt. Hartman believes Danner loved his wife, Iva, and may have been trying to protect her. Visitors from the Salvation Army came to see him while he was held at the jail.
Cause of death, as reported: Executed by the state. Author Kelly Hartman, who wrote his side of the story, says she cannot prove or disprove his guilt, and the case has long been disputed, resting largely on his wife's accusations.
