Sergio Rodriguez
Sergio Rodriguez, 51, of Paterson, died on June 27, 2020, after being taken into New Jersey State Police custody during a traffic stop near the State Police Totowa Substation. Body camera footage shows him telling officers that he was diabetic and needed insulin. While he was handcuffed and seated in a police SUV, he slumped forward, and he was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Attorney General's Office has received an autopsy report but has not disclosed a cause of death, and the death is under investigation and will be heard by a grand jury.
