Sean Levert

39 years old · Cuyahoga County Corrections Center, Cuyahoga County, Ohio

Sean Levert, an R&B singer and son of O'Jays singer Eddie Levert, collapsed at the Cuyahoga County Jail on March 30 and died after being taken to a hospital. Cuyahoga County Coroner Frank Miller ruled his death natural, citing complications of sarcoidosis along with heart disease, high blood sugar and alprazolam withdrawal. His widow, Angela Lowe, and her attorneys say records show he was not given his prescribed alprazolam or seen by a doctor while jailed. Lowe and the family believe his death might have been prevented had he been allowed to seek medical attention during his week in jail. A lawsuit Lowe brought over his death settled for $4 million with no admission of liability.
