Scott Panetti
Scott Panetti, a man who lived with schizophrenia, spent 34 years in the appeals process in Texas. The Texas Office of the Attorney General's custodial death report says Scott Louis Panetti died on May 26, 2025, while held at Hospital Galveston, a Texas Department of Criminal Justice facility. A January 2026 World Socialist Web Site article gives June 2025 as his date of death and says he died of medical conditions. That article's date and cause differ from the attorney general's report.
