Savion Hall

30 years old · died July 19, 2019 · Midland County Central Detention Center, Midland County, Texas

Savion Vashon Hall, 30, was held at the Midland County Jail in Texas, where, according to a federal lawsuit filed by his family, he needed breathing treatments for asthma and shortness of breath. He was taken from the jail by ambulance and died on July 19, 2019, at a hospital in Lubbock. The Texas Rangers, who investigated, said his medical records showed treatment and improvement that video review did not support. Indictments obtained by CBS7 and District Attorney Laura Nodolf accuse six nurses of manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide and tampering with a government record, alleging they failed to maintain records needed for his medical care. The family's lawsuit claims his constitutional right to reasonable medical care was violated.

Cause of death, as reported: Died of illness (neglect alleged). Texas Rangers say Hall's medical records showed treatment and improvement that video review did not support, and his family's federal lawsuit says the jail denied him reasonable medical care for his asthma and breathing problems.
