Sasha Chavez, 37, died on August 27, 2025, while held in the Jefferson County detention system in Colorado. According to the county, deputies found her unresponsive in her cell early that morning, and she was pronounced dead at 6:40 a.m. The First Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team is investigating, and the Coroner's Office has not yet determined the cause of death.
