Sara Jane Bradley was hanged by the neck in the old jail yard at Georgetown, Sussex County, Delaware, one of three people put to death together from a single scaffold. A writer describing the scene decades later says she was the only woman ever hanged in Delaware. Her body was buried in a thicket near Georgetown.
