Santana Cruz Ureste, 28, died on July 13, 2026, while he was held at the DeWitt County Jail in Texas. The DeWitt County Sheriff's Office said he was found unresponsive that morning, and emergency medical personnel arrived but he was pronounced dead. The cause and manner of his death have not been determined; the sheriff's office said it has found no evidence of foul play, and the medical examiner's results are pending. The Texas Rangers are investigating his death.
