Samuel Garcia
Samuel Garcia, 49, was held at Colorado State Penitentiary in Cañon City, Colorado, when other people held there beat him in a day hall on June 21, 2022. Surveillance footage recorded the assault, according to the Canon City Daily Record. He was taken to hospital in Colorado Springs and died there on June 28, 2022. The final autopsy found that blunt force trauma to the head from the assault caused his death, and his sister, Christine Garcia, has spoken at court hearings about losing her brother.
