Sammy Harris
Sammy Harris, 44, collapsed on a stairway while being moved to another cell at the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center in Mississippi, where he was being held pretrial. He died at a hospital later that evening, on August 10, 2025. Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant and Sheriff Eddie Hawkins said the death appears natural, with a heart-related issue as the cause and no sign of injury or foul play. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is investigating the death.
