Samiel Malachi
Samiel Malachi, 31, was held at Henrico County Jail West in Virginia when he died on April 6, 2026. His mother, Gesina Charles, describes him as exceptional, filled with inspiration and purpose, and says he was a former Highland Springs High School student who loved art. Henrico County Public Safety Media Relations said a sheriff's deputy called 911 about a medical emergency involving him around 4:30 a.m., and that he was pronounced dead. Charles said he called her on April 5 saying he feared for his safety and wanted to be moved to another jail. The county lists the cause as a medical emergency and the manner as pending, while police and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner work to determine both, and his family is asking how this could happen.
