Sam Love
Sam Love, a Black man, was held in the San Augustine jail in Texas. According to the Fort Worth Daily Gazette, about forty disguised men broke open the jail door, took him to the courthouse and hanged him from an iron bar. The body hung until about 11 o'clock, when an inquest jury found he died by hanging at the hands of persons unknown.
