Sam Haskell IV

37 years old · died July 12, 2025 · Twin Towers Correctional Facility, Los Angeles County, California

Sam Haskell IV was 37, the son of Hollywood producer Sam Haskell and former Miss Mississippi Mary Donnelly Haskell, and the father of three sons, who are now in the care of California's Department of Children and Family Services. He died in his cell at Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles, where he was being held, found shortly after 4 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2025, days before a scheduled court hearing. The Los Angeles County medical examiner determined that his death was a suicide caused by incised wounds to both upper extremities, and the district attorney's office gave the same cause. His family's attorney, Joseph Weimortz, said he was worried about his sons and about the effect of public attention on them. A court assessment had found he was at risk of self-harm, which his attorney called "wild speculation."

Cause of death, as reported: Died by suicide. The county medical examiner ruled the death a suicide from incised wounds to both upper extremities, the sheriff's department and district attorney said it was apparently self-inflicted, and his family's attorney said he was willing to take his own life.

Reported by: Los Angeles County Medical Examiner (medical examiner or coroner); Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (the agency that held him); Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office; family attorney Joseph Weimortz (family or their lawyers).
